Orthodontic Dentistry

Orthodontists specialize in tooth alignment and focus on the diagnosis as well as the treatment of dental and associated facial irregularities. Their work consists of treating different conditions such as tooth crowding, overbites, underbites and gaps between teeth. They use corrective appliances such as retainers and braces to treat these problems.
There are several types of brace for orthodontic treatments

  • Metal braces are smaller than ever before and you can express your individuality.
Part of the fun of having braces is choosing different-colored elastics at each appointment. You can celebrate your school spirit, choose white, red and blue for your national colors or select any number of fun colors that shows your style.

  • Clear or ceramic braces make treatment nearly invisible. The polymer brackets make them translucent while ceramic brackets are tooth-colored, making them one of the most popular aesthetic choices in braces today.

Clear Braces also known as ceramic braces or tooth-colored braces make orthodontic treatment nearly invisible, resulting in their popular aesthetic choice in braces today especially for working individuals and adults.
Clear braces are composed of the same components of traditional metal braces but clear brackets instead of metal brackets are used.

  • Damon Braces: brackets consist of both clear and metal parts allowing braces to be less visible without the need of elastic bands. This enables less frictional force and in certain cases faster treatment outcome.

Damon Braces have over 20 years of evaluation on clinical mechanics in orthodontic treatment. It is a type of self-ligating braces.

Damon braces have a self-clip typed brackets (that may be metal or clear) combined with high-tech arch-wires, enabling a mechanical system of low forces to work together with the biological facial muscles, bone and tissue.

  • Lingual Braces are attached to the inside or lingual side of the teeth which makes them completely non-visible.

These esthetically appealing braces are available in translucent white to blend with the teeth, making them less visible than traditional braces. Lingual braces are applied behind the teeth as compared to metal or ceramic braces which are applied to the front of your teeth. Often called “Invisible Braces”, they are the best and only non-visible form of fixed orthodontic therapy. Although lingual braces are more expensive they offer a highly cosmetic alternative to those patients who otherwise would not consider treatment.

The back side of each tooth has its own unique shape-unlike the front of each tooth. Each lingual bracket must be custom-made to the unique shape of each individual tooth. Thus, only certain clinicians are able to offer this form of specialized treatment.

This advanced method makes lingual orthodontics particularly well-suited for adults and individuals whose professions keep them in the public eyes as no one can tell they are wearing braces. Patients can enjoy the process of orthodontic while still retaining a natural smile.Brackets are installed behind the teeth for lingual braces.

Invisalign an invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, patented from the USA. It uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten teeth. Invisalign is removable and comfortable. Invisalign, however, is not suited for all cases due to being removable, discipline and compliance on the patient's part is required.

Invisalign is clear plastic aligners customized to fit each jaw. Invisalign is removable braces adjusted on a stage-by-stage basis commonly done in adult orthodontics. Because Invisalign is non-visible, it is suited corrective orthodontic treatment for adults and working individuals without the social stigma of wearing wires on teeth. Invisalign is also known as clear aligners.

    • Clear aligners are similar to Invisalign whereby a series clear removable aligners are used to straighten teeth. Essix braces are the common brand for these clear aligners that are made in local laboratories for fitting.
    • Removable appliances include retainers and active plates.
Retainers are normally worn after fixed braces are removed in maintaining teeth in preventing relapses.
Active plates are commonly worn by children in guiding their erupting teeth into specific positions.
